White House Implementing Steel And Aluminum Tarriffs On Canada, Mexico, EU WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IMPLEMENTING STEEL AND ALUMINUM TARIFFS ON CANADA, MEXICO, AND THE EUROPEAN UNION WHAT: President Donald J. Trump is implementing steel and aluminum tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and the European Union following months of discussions to address United States national security concerns. Today, President Trump announced that he is taking action to protect America’s national security from the effects of global oversupply of steel and aluminum. Following extensive discussions and a months-long process, the President will implement tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from Canada, Mexico, and the European Union. The implementation of steel and aluminum tariffs follows the announcement by President Trump on March 8, 2018, of a 25 percent tariff on steel imports and a 10 percent tariff on aluminum imports. In the initial proclamations in March, President Trump welcomed any country with which the United States shares a security relationship to discuss alternative means to address threatened impairment to the national security caused by their steel and aluminum exports to the United States. The President made it clear that the Administration was willing to work with those countries to find separate arrangements that would meet the national security requirements of the United States. The United States has reached an arrangement with South Korea on steel, which was announced on April 30. Included in today’s proclamations, the United States has reached arrangements on steel with Australia, Argentina, and Brazil, and with Australia and Argentina on aluminum. The United States was unable to reach satisfactory arrangements, however, with Canada, Mexico, or the European Union, after repeatedly delaying tariffs to allow more time for discussions. WHY: Current quantities and circumstances of steel and aluminum imports into the United States threaten to impair national security. These excessive imports are driven in large part by the worldwide glut from overproduction by other countries. In January 2018, the Department of Commerce delivered two reports on steel and aluminum investigations conducted under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962. The reports found that the excessive level of imports threatened to impair the national security because further closures of domestic production capacity would result in a situation where the United States would be unable to meet demand for national defense and critical infrastructure in a national emergency. On March 8, President Trump accepted the Department of Commerce’s recommendations and began to take action to address the threatened impairment to America’s national security.

We are dedicated to continuing our collaboration with players to advance the goals of justice and fairness in all corners of our society. The efforts by many of our players sparked awareness and action around issues of social justice that must be addressed. The platform that we have created together is certainly unique in professional sports and quite likely in American business. We are honored to work with our players to drive progress. It was unfortunate that on-field protests created a false perception among many that thousands of NFL players were unpatriotic. This is not and was never the case. This season, all league and team personnel shall stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem. Personnel who choose not to stand for the Anthem may stay in the locker room until after the Anthem has been performed. We believe today’s decision will keep our focus on the game and the extraordinary athletes who play it—and on our fans who enjoy it. POLICY STATEMENT The 32 member clubs of the National Football League have reaffirmed their strong commitment to work alongside our players to strengthen our communities and advance social justice. The unique platform that we have created is unprecedented in its scope, and will provide extraordinary resources in support of programs to promote positive social change in our communities. The membership also strongly believes that: All team and league personnel on the field shall stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem. The Game Operations Manual will be revised to remove the requirement that all players be on the field for the Anthem. Personnel who choose not to stand for the Anthem may stay in the locker room or in a similar location off the field until after the Anthem has been performed. A club will be fined by the League if its personnel are on the field and do not stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem. Each club may develop its own work rules, consistent with the above principles, regarding its personnel who do not stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem. The Commissioner will impose appropriate discipline on league personnel who do not stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Statement On Sports Betting STATEMENT FROM NFL COMMISSIONER ROGER GOODELL ON SPORTS BETTING As it was for my predecessors, there is no greater priority for me as the Commissioner of the National Football League than protecting the integrity of our sport. Our fans, our players and our coaches deserve to know that we are doing everything possible to ensure no improper influences affect how the game is played on the field. Last week's ruling by the Supreme Court has no effect on that unwavering commitment. We have spent considerable time planning for the potential of broadly legalized sports gambling and are prepared to address these changes in a thoughtful and comprehensive way, including substantial education and compliance trainings for our clubs, players, employees and partners. These efforts include supporting commonsense legislation that protects our players, coaches and fans and maintains public confidence in our games. We are asking Congress to enact uniform standards for states that choose to legalize sports betting that include, at a minimum, four core principles: There must be substantial consumer protections; Sports leagues can protect our content and intellectual property from those who attempt to steal or misuse it; Fans will have access to official, reliable league data; and Law enforcement will have the resources, monitoring and enforcement tools necessary to protect our fans and penalize bad actors here at home and abroad.

Carolyn Bryant was the white woman who told her husband that black 15-year old Till said hello to her in 1955. For that, they killed him, sparking the civil rights movement. Jennifer Schulte, the woman who filed the Lake Merritt complaint, lied to police on the phone and said she was being pushed. On the video you can see no one was touching her or had touched her.

Jon Gruden Tells Zennie Abraham Oakland Raiders Will Run 4 3 One Gap Defense
While at the NFL Annual Meeting 2018, Oakland Raiders Head Coach Jon Gruden took time to address the kind of defense the team would run under his leadership. Asked by me, Zennie Abraham, if the Raiders would run a one-gap system, Gruden said "We're a 4-3, up the field, one-gap system much like Cincinnati was". What that means is rather than ask a defensive lineman like Maurice Hurst to control a space to either side of an offensive blocker, he would be responsible for just one - and which one varies with the defense that's called. That's a first for the Oakland Raiders, and has not been done since, well, the last time Jon Gruden coached the team. Gruden also said that he would look at the existing players and how well they performed in the new system - and not just find new players for the new system. So look for defenders like Eddie Vanderdoos to have a new life in this new (for the Oakland Raiders) defensive approach. It should pay off in an improved run defense over 2017.
