Oakland Raiders NFL Stadium Project: Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross Enters Picture

Oakland Raiders NFL Stadium Project: Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross Enters Picture Oakland's quest to retain the Raiders took series of giant steps last week. First, according to a regular source, the City of Oakland and the County of Alameda sent off the latest version of the Lott / Fortress Oakland Raiders NFL Stadium Plan to the National Football League. Details of the documents were not shared with this vlogger. The second item of news was first reported in this space, and recenly confirmed in a public setting by NFL Hall Of Fame Defensive Back and Stadium Developer Ronnie Lott. Talking about the staidum plan, Lott told a group that Miami Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross was approached and is “involved” in the proposal. Just what the nature of that involvement is at this point, is not known – except that Mr. Ross talked to Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf. But, that another NFL Owner is involved with the plans for a stadium for an NFL Owner is, in itself, huge news. And, considering that Mr. Ross' The Related Companies owns the 22 acre Lion Creek Crossings, right across the Coliseum BART Station from the Oakland Coliseum Complex, it just makes good business sense. It also not only massively boosts Oakland's effort to retain the Raiders, but could point to the creation of a true state of the art stadium complex. The other question is has Mr. Ross talked to Oakland Raiders Owner Mark Davis? Stay tuned.

Oakland Raiders Have Few Stadium Financing Suitors For Las Vegas NFL Stadium

Oakland Raiders Have Few Stadium Financing Suitors For Las Vegas NFL Stadium The Oakland Raiders are talking to either US Bank and Bank of America, as this blogger reported from a trusted source, or US Bank and JP Morgan Chase, as another report suggested. Lay Raiders fans and NFL Football media types miss the point: regardless of the combination, the overall news points to one fact: there's little demand to finance the Raiders still largely undetailed plan for an NFL Stadium in Las Vegas. Let's prove that by way of example: the Minnesota Vikings new stadium had not less than 22 different investment banking firms competing for the right to underwrite the bonds associated with the unique stadium that will host Super Bowl XLII in 2018. Some of them were Piper Jaffray & Co, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Barclays PLC, BMO Capital Markets, CitiGroup Global Markets Inc, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley & Co. Inc.,  RBC Capital Markets, U.S. Bank NA and Wells Fargo Securities LLC. And in the case of JP Morgan Chase, it reportedly loaned Stan Kronke's development company $1 billion for its new NFL Stadium in Inglewood, California. But, as I've been told on a number of occasions, Mr. Kronke's banking relationships, and his incredible personal wealth, played a giant role in that stadium financing deal. Read familiar? That's the same story that applies to Las Vegas Sands Founder and CEO Sheldon Adelson. The same person who backed out of the stadium development and financing planning with Oakland Raiders Owner Mark Davis. So there are few, and really no good, stadium financing suitors for the Raiders desires in the dessert. Consider this: with so few organizations the Raiders are 'talking' to, that means deal terms are not in their favor: higher interest rates and other requirements that an investment bank hungry reach an agreement would not bring up. Plus, the Oakland NFL market is proven, whereas the Las Vegas market is not. All of this points back to something we all know, already: the Raiders deal in Las Vegas is dead. For a host of reasons, there's no rush to finance the Raiders moribund efforts in Sin City. Get the Zennie62 T-shirt here: http://ift.tt/2lKyF7X Stay tuned.

Oakland Athletics To Announce New MLB Stadium Location, Mayor Schaaf Favors Howard Terminal

The Oakland Athletics are studying locations for a new baseball stadium and will announce their choice – between Howard Terminal, the Laney College Ballfield, and The Oakland Coliseum – by the end of this year. Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf says she still favors the Howard Terminal location. This news (which I received from an extremely well-placed source) was received moments ago, today. The Athletics are, I was told, “surveying the sites and holding meetings with (Oakland) Mayor (Libby) Schaaf regularly.” Via text, I asked Mayor Schaaf if, indeed, she had met with the A's on the reported regular basis and if she still favored Howard Terminal, and her response to me was “yes and yes.” It's was known that Mayor Schaaf favored the Howard Terminal site, and a year ago, this blogger was informed that the Athletics were going to focus on that area near Jack London Square. Then, a change in A's management caused a slow-down and a slight refocusing of the effort: A's principal ownerr Jon Fisher took over for Lew Wolff, and Dave Kaval was selected to become the new president of the organization. Kaval, who has stadium development experience, communicated the team's intent to stay in and build a new stadium in Oakland, and also to (as he told the Bay Area News Group) “transform” a part of Oakland with a venue that has an urban focus. The stadium development process and challenge for the Oakland Athletics is, as follows: site cost, land preparation cost, infratructure configuration and cost, stadium design and construction, stadium financing, the environmental impact process, and government approvals. From that perspective, the Coliseum site scores out higher than the other two, where site cost, land preparation cost, and infratructure configuration score out better. But where Howard Terminal and The Laney College Ballfield excel is in one area that's not part of the direct stadium development process, but can drive it: asthetic appeal. Or, to put it bluntly, a new baseball stadium on the Oakland Waterfront would be just plain incredible – Oakland's admittedly 'me-too' response to AT&T Park at China Basin in San Francisco, where the SF Giants play. Stay tuned.

Oakland Raiders, Bank Of America, US Bank Talking Las Vegas NFL Stadium Financing, Sheldon Adelson

Oakland Raiders, Bank Of America, US Bank Talking Las Vegas NFL Stadium Financing, Sheldon Adelson Looms The Oakland Raiders are “talking” with U.S. Bank and with Bank Of America, regarding providing financing for the proposed new stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. This comes from conversations over the last two days with two sources: one a developer with NFL stadium experience, and the other an elected official who's relationships led him to the news. There's just one giant problem: Sheldon Adelson. With a total personal value said to be over $29 billion, Mr. Adelson has not only done business with U.S. Bank and Bank of America, at least one of his former executives serves on the advisory board of U.S. Bank. Adelson has so many connections that the Oakland Raiders should be worried that the water that their deal desires exists within has been poisoned, and just by the news of how the Las Vegas Sands CEO perceives that he caught Davis trying to double-cross him. It's not just the money Adelson commands, it's the respect many have for him and his company. Mark Davis and Marc Badain really scututtled a great deal: Adelson was not only giving them $650 million of his own money, he was willing to provide favorable revenue percentage splits that Davis would not have been able to land with another partner. Yes, the NFL Owners would ultimately vote against the relationship, but not after a hard, hard look. But what's happened is Davis' fumble has caused Adelson to bring the deal structure to the attention of other NFL Owners, and in the process, has opened the door for a possible new deal with another team. The problem is the clock is now ticking: Nevada's Legislature is Democratic-controlled, where last year, when the Senate Bill One containing the $750 million subsidy provision was approved, it was Republican-controlled. Nevada, lacking a state income tax, could use that planned hotel tax revenue stream for education and for a stadium for UNLV, without the NFL. In other words, Las Vegas is still closed for the Oakland Raiders. The bartender sounded last call days ago; trouble is, the Raiders are getting her to stay open. At some point, they may get kicked out and put on a plane back to Oakland.

Are President Donald Trump's Kind Putin Words Only To Protect His Business Interests In Russia?

Are President Trump's Kind Putin Words Only To Protect His Business Interests In Russia? Is President Donald Trump treating Russian President Vladomir Putin with kid gloves because the new POTUS has business interests in Russia? In the wake of what TIME Magazine calls the firing of Michael Flynn as National Security Adviser, many are questioning the relationship of the Trump Administration to the former Soviet Union. A number of media members have dismissed how much Donald Trump knows about doing business in Russia. And according to CNN, Trump has said that he has no business ties to Russia. In fact, on January 11th, 2017, Trump tweeted, “Russia has never tried to use leverage over me. I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH RUSSIA - NO DEALS, NO LOANS, NO NOTHING!” In the same CNN article by Nelli Black and Curt Devine, Trump was noted to have owned the Miss Universe Contest and partnered with Russian billionaire Aras Agalarov, hosting it in Moscow in 2013. He tried, but failed, to built a Trump International Hotel and Tower, there in 2007. Trump Vodka was launched in Russia. And Trump sold a giant mansion in Palm Beach, Florida, to Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev for $95 million. That would appear to be all there is, but there's more. According to a speech by Donald Trump, Jr., given in late 2008 to the Cityscape USA’s Bridging US and the Emerging Real Estate Markets Conference held in Manhattan (and reported by Global Travel Industry News) The Trump Organization has long identified Russia as an “emerging market” for its varied business interests. This is what Don, Jr. said “The emerging world in general attributes such brand premium to real estate that we are looking all over the place, primarily Russia. There are countries that have not been fully tapped by us such as Thailand, Vietnam and Argentina. We are currently looking at potential deals. Our interest is really everywhere because there is a lot of new money in the emerging markets which appeal to certain brands whether ego-driven or having the life-jacket effect that we feel gives added-value to our investment. Given what I’ve seen in Russia’s real estate market as of late relative to some of the emerging markets, the country seems to have a lot more natural strength, especially in the high-end sector where people focus on price per square-meter. In Russia, I really prefer Moscow over all cities in the world. Unlike other countries in the world, this country has five major cities where people would at least be happy being close to living in the metro. In Russia, if one has made money anywhere in the country, you would want your place in Moscow.” Trump, Jr. also talked about the many reported pitfalls of doing business in Russia during the same talk: “After spending half a dozen trips to Russia in the last 18 months, several buyers have been attracted to our projects there and everything associated therewith. But it is definitely not an issue of being able to find a deal – but an issue of ‘Will I ever see my money back out of that deal or can I actually trust the person I am doing the deal with?' As much as we want to take our business over there, Russia is just a different world. Though the legal structure is in place for what we have today, and even 99 percent is covered, that 1 percent not covered could be 100 percent covered over there because it is a question of who knows who, whose brother is paying off who, etc. It really is a scary place.” Donald Trump Jr, also talked about how “interconnected” everything is, referring to how political leaders are involved in business deals – he did not name, names. But Trump Jr. did say that “in terms of high-end product influx into the US, Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets; say in Dubai, and certainly with our project in SoHo and anywhere in New York. We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia. There's indeed a lot of money coming for new-builds and resale reflecting a trend in the Russian economy and, of course, the weak dollar versus the ruble.” The bottom line is The Trump Organization, according to President Trump's Son in 2008, and from a vast number of media accounts between now and then, have had, and still have, various business interests in Russia. So many over the last 10 years that President Trump should explain to the American People what is really going on. Given the apparent exposure of The Trump Organization in Russia, one could assert that the President is fearful of Putin harming his business relationships should he take an action the Russian President dislikes. That would be putting his personal needs over those of America, if it's found to be true. Stay tuned. See: http://ift.tt/1S1YUhE

Oakland Raiders Lott Group ENA NFL Update On February 15th Deadline Questions

Oakland Raiders Lott Group ENA NFL Update On February 15th Deadline Questions Some of you had questions regarding what others called "The February 15th Deadline". Well, the actual language does not have that. The ENA is one year long. Here is the part of the Lott Term Sheet that concerns the 15th of February. If an Exclusive Negotiating Agreement (the "ENA") is approved by the Oakland City Council and the Alameda County Board of Supervisors, the City, County, and the Lott Group will negotiate and enter into the ENA on mutually-agreeable terms within 60 days following the execution of this Term Sheet (the "ENA Negotiating Term"). The ENA Negotiating Term will be automatically extended if the Oakland City Council continues its meeting considering the ENA or otherwise delays taking action on the ENA or any other procedural requirement associated with the City's approval of the ENA. The parties may also extend the ENA Negotiating Term by mutual agreement among the parties. The City and County will endeavor to calendar Oakland City Council and Board of Supervisors consideration of the ENA no later than February 15, 2017, but with a target for the end of January, 2017.

Sheldon Adelson Deputy Blasts Oakland Raiders In Las Vegas NFL Stadium Issue Part 1

Sheldon Adelson Deputy Blasts Oakland Raiders In Las Vegas NFL Stadium Issue Part 1 Andy Abboud, Las Vegas Sand Senior Vice President of Government Affairs, told the Adelson-owned Las Vegas Review Journal the details of why the casino billionaire left the Oakland Raiders Las Vegas NFL Stadium Project. The result is the second public example of the good faith dealing problem the Raiders have and I pointed to with respect to Oakland stadium negotiations and at the Charlotte NFL Spring League Meeting of 2016. In the front page website article, Abboud was direct and revealing in his discussion of the problem with Richard Velotta of the Review Journal. Abboud said that once the Nevada Legislature passed the Senate bill with the $750 million subsidy provision and the hotel tax increase, the Raiders changed and started to make unreasonable requests. But the last straw was the 117-page lease agreement that excluded Adelson and did not serve UNLV or follow what the parties agreed to during the Southern Nevada Tourism and Infrastructure Committee meetings of last year. While Abboud did not outline those details, he went on to say that because of the way the Raiders handled Adelson, they would find negotiations with the Las Vegas Stadium Authority tough sledding. Overall, the article is the latest in a series of bad ones issued by the LVRJ since Adelson backed out, but it's the most damaging by far. It's hard to even think of the Oakland Raiders in Las Vegas after this. Here is a link: http://ift.tt/2kgn9Bn
