Ryan Tollner, Goff & Wentz Agent, Calls About LA Rams Kronke Meetup Ryan Tollner sent this text about 15 minutes ago and sent this text: Zennie, Ryan Tollner here. The recent YouTube video post isn't accurate with respect to what I said. I did not "meet with" Stan Kroenke, I happened to run into him at an event last night and he told a few of us that the move was made for talent, not to make headlines... as a compliment to the player they select. Mark Davis Oakland Raiders To Las Vegas Moves Put NFL, Team, In Trouble

Mark Davis Oakland Raiders To Las Vegas Moves Put NFL, Team, In Trouble I was asked to comment on Oakland Raiders Owner Mark Davis' overtures toward building a stadium in Las Vegas. Initially, I was going to avoid any public expression of opinion, but after analyzing Davis' actions with respect to NFL rules and anti-trust law, I felt compelled to do so. (Also, one does not have to be a practicing lawyer to know the law). Mark Davis moves are, from a legal perspective, dangerous for the Oakland Raiders, the NFL, and himself. First, Davis admission that he bought the URL LasVegasRaiders.com is of concern in my opinion because NFL Rules state that “Club Marks” (and that includes URLs) must have NFL approval before they are established. In this case, Davis bought the URL in 1998, but then recently stated his intent to use it as part of an effort to move the Raiders from Oakland to Las Vegas. Thus, Davis by action causes the URL to be considered a Club Mark – one done without league backing. Second, If the Raiders did have a stadium in Las Vegas, there's nothing to stop a Vegas-based company from developing tech that allows real time betting on various aspects of play – and doing this under the nose of the NFL. If Vegas-based interests are building the stadium, and not the NFL, what's to stop that from happening? Moreover, what's to stop those same interests from working a deal to have a player act in a way that amounts to fixing a game, even if it's for a few plays? Third, Mark Davis and the NFL have a set of franchise relocation rules that are contradictory. A team can't act in exhausting all of its options in building a new stadium, yet spend time trying to get one going in another city. Take Davis and the Raiders, who said they hired Larry McNeil as Business Affairs Rep in February, but did not tell the media or the fans he would not start until April. That gave Mark Davis the three month window of time he needed to build relationships in Las Vegas and not Oakland. That sets up a powerful list of causes of action the City of Oakland and East Bay Entities could sue the Raiders on, and prevail, if not on all counts, then on a significant part of them. Mark Davis should quit while he's behind. He's playing with fire, and will cause a very hot match to be struck. Stay tuned.

Nick Denton Of Gawker Not Running A Newspaper But 21st Century Media

Nick Denton, the founder of Gawker, wrote this message to his staff in 2009. I happen to agree with it. Raad: "From: Nick Denton Date: Wed, Oct 7, 2009 at 6:33 PM Subject: We’re not running a newspaper A few cases recently where we’ve thought *way* too much before publishing. Even when we’ve had exclusive information or even documentary evidence. There’s always a good argument for waiting. Let’s check to see whether the associated claim is true; oh, the source might be exposed. Unbelievable Flashlight Now Available To Public awiserfinancial.com But we should publish anyway, making clear what we know to be true and what remains up in the air. Or even just publish a headline or quicklink and fill the story in later. We can always update. We can always write a second post when we’ve established more of the facts. We’ve brought in some of the better traditions of newspapers. We’re breaking more stories than we ever have. That’s awesome. But there’s no way we’re going to slow our publishing schedule to that of a ponderous newspaper-style organization — where everything has to go through layers of edit and approval and checking and legal. If we did that, we’d be neither as authoritative as a newspaper nor as nimble as the smaller blogs that *do* indeed publish as soon as they get something. At some media organizations you might get rapped for running a premature story. At Gawker Media, you’ll lose way more points for being scooped on a story you had in your hands. Nick"

Oakland Raiders Meet With Coliseum JPA On New Stadium Late April; What Mark Davis Didn't Tell Fans

Oakland Raiders Meet With Coliseum JPA On New Stadium Late April; What Mark Davis Didn't Tell Fans In this saga of a number of people and parties working to keep the Oakland Raiders in, well, Oakland, a narrative has grown that says the stadium development process is entirely up to Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf. Indeed, the number one person who's driven that idea home to much of the media is Oakland Raiders Owner Mark Davis. In Boca Raton, Mr. Davis told a group of reporters (who failed to apply critical thinking to his statements) that “nothing was happening in Oakland” regarding the Mayor and the Stadium process, and in effect throwing Mayor Schaaf under the bus in Florida, where it was technically safe to do so. I wasn't there and there was no other media type present willing to challenge his statements. But the fact is, Mr. Davis, Mark is not telling you all of the truth. I'm not saying he's lying, because, as Mr. Spock said on Star Trek: “It is not a lie to keep the truth to yourself.” Obviously, Mark Davis is as much a Star Trek fan as I am, because what he left out of his Boca Raton talk was the other truth, which is that nothing was happening in Oakland because the Raiders not only weren't making moves to build a stadium, they were involved in stadium lease negotiations and waiting for Larry McNeil to start work as their stadium consultant on April 1st – no fooling. Who's Larry McNeil? He's the San Francisco 49ers former Chief Financial Officer and Stadium Consultant that Mark Davis announced he hired in February to work for the Raiders in the same stadium consultant capacity and to get this stadium built for the team. But what Davis knew, and did not tell the media either via press release or statement, was that McNeil doesn't start his job until April 1st. It's April 7th. That delay in McNeil getting started with the Raiders is the real number one hold up in all of this. Yes, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf could have and can still present her vision for stadiums for the Raiders and the Oakland A's and also The Golden State Warriors (since it's apparent Joe Lacob's going to go entirely grey before he gets anything done in San Francisco), but the Raiders have to do their work too, and the way things are arranged, all that will fall into McNeil's lap. Larry McNeil is the business representative the Raiders have sorely lacked, and really needed, for some time since Amy Trask resigned as the team's Chief Executive Officer. But, as I was informed by a friend, “McNeil has to get some things out of the way before a date can be arrived at and (Oakland Raiders President) Marc Badain has been waiting for him.” But, I'm told, that time will mostly likely be in late April. The attendees are expected to be McNeil, the Raiders lawyers, City of Oakland and Alameda County representatives, the head of the Coliseum JPA, and perhaps two JPA elected official representatives. Now, about Mayor Schaaf: a number of city elected officials and staffers have pointed a collective finger at Mayor Schaaf and said they are waiting for her to take the lead on the stadium issue. The two Oakland City Council Members who are on the JPA have said this, and Councilmember Rebecca Kaplan has said the Mayor needs to make Scott McKibben the City's chief negotiator, and from what I am hearing, Claudia Cappio, the City of Oakland's Assistant Administrator and current stadium point person agrees with Rebecca. All of the teams want to deal with Scott (no offense to Claudia), so Libby really should let him lead this thing. Meanwhile, the desire to have this stadium plan out and on the way toward completion is making some in Oakland restless. I interviewed a Lyft Driver who said to me, today in a video interview for Zennie62.com “The Mayor: she's not aggressive. It's like she doesn't care about the teams.” But one has to ask Mark Davis if he cares about Oakland or the Mayor? As much as the Raiders Owner says he hates how Schaaf talks to the media about the Raiders situation, he hasn't helped matters and, in effect, has become Libby's mirror image. In fairness to Mark, he didn't treat Oakland Mayor Jean Quan this way. Under Quan and Oakland City Administrator Fred Blackwell, the relationship between the Raiders and the City of Oakland was excellent. Now it's not. Perhaps Libby should hire Jean as a consultant? Ok. I can hear the screams. It was just an idea. Jean certainly has her issues, and elected office in Oakland may elude her after the Occupy Oakland problem, but she does have a good relationship with the Raiders to hang her hat on. That's not a bad thing. But if Libby can't stomach that idea, then, for God's sake, let Scott McKibben take the reins. Stay tuned.

Paxton Lynch Pro Day Pushes NFL Draft 2016 Rank To High 1st Round

Paxton Lynch Pro Day Pushes NFL Draft 2016 Rank To High 1st Round Paxton Lynch had a terrific pro day at Memphis, and thanks to the NFL Network telecast, put that college's football program on the national map, yet again. Lynch threw 76 passes, missed five, and the remaining ones were more often than not things of beauty. Paxton Lynch not only throws a powerful ball, his passes are among the nicest I've ever seen. He reminds me a lot of Troy Aikman coming out of UCLA to The Dallas Cowboys. But what really impressed me with Lynch is how he handled the distractions around him: the camera guy on the field before the two throws he missed (roll-out, corner pattern, left and right), the 24-mph wind gusts, and the ambulance siren that seemed like it would go on forever. All of that, plus the eyes of the NFL's top offensive coaches and minds, and the media, were what he had to deal with. Paxton handled it al really well – something to consider in evaluating a quarterback. I now believe that Paxton Lynch is every bit as good as Jared Goff and Carson Wentz – it's just a matter of time before he proves it in the NFL.

Quick Cab Oakland Crazy Cab Driver To Avoid

Ok, so I went to use a cab and not Uber or Lyft only because my iPhone ran out of power. So, I went over to the 13th and Broadway Cab Stand and saw a Friendly Cab Driver who has become a friend. It was not his turn to take me so I would up in a cab called "Quick Cab" cab number 151 red and white. The guy got me to my place but when I went to give him the fare of $8 I added $2 and tipped him. He insisted on giving me the money back but I said that wasn't necessary. So as I am walking away from the cab he throws the money at me. It fell to the ground - I picked it up. Forget using Quiick Cab. Or cabs in Oakland. I am done.

Defending Oakland Councilmember Annie Campbell Washington After Love Life - Not Racist

Oakland City Councilmember Annie Campbell Washington voted against the Love Life slogan resolution, which passed anyway. When she elected to explain her decision (which I would not have done and I would have voted for the slogan as a way to honor Donald Lacy) Annie stumbled over her words and then mentioned a report that focused on race. Between her lack of confidence in explaining her vote, the charged up racially mixed crowd of vocal people, and her talk about the report and saying that race was a factor, some thought Annie herself was racist. In my video I explain why this is really wrong. Annie is way not racist at all.
