City Of Oakland Reaches Tentative Agreement On 2 Year Contract With Union SEIU Local 1021 Oakland, CA — The City of Oakland and Service Employees International Union (SEIU, Local 1021) have reached tentative agreement on a two-year contract, which the union will put to their members next week for a vote, and if approved, will be presented to the Oakland City Council for ratification. Local 1021 tentatively agreed to the same wage proposal ratified by the other three civilian employee labor groups—the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE), Local 21; the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW, Local 1245); and the Confidential Management Employees Association (CMEA). The tentative agreement provides a wage increase of up to 6% over the two-year contract, as follows: · 4% retroactive to July 1, 2017 · 1% effective January 2019 · Up to 1% more in the second year of the contract, depending on City revenues, effective January 2019 Once the tentative agreement is ratified, the City will have two-year contracts in place with all four civilian labor groups. Negotiations with International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF, Local 55) are ongoing.
