This is to Matthew Graf of Oakland who got on Facebook and wrote that where I see color with respect to who runs the old Serenader, he sees a business then said "at the end, Serenader was owned by an Asian lady". Which means he sees race and color. I am asking him to stop being the kind of SF Bay Area white person who says they don't see race but then proves they do without realizing it. NFL Asking Players To Help Finance LA Stadium Unfair To Oakland #Raiders

NFL Asking Players To Help Finance LA Stadium Unfair To Oakland The National Football League has asked the Players Union to help finance a stadium in Los Angeles. That speaks volumes for where this process really is and how it's designed: 1) First, it means the LA Stadiums, as they are currently financially planned, can't be paid for without an extra financing source, and even with two teams playing in them. I'm personally skeptical that personal seat licenses can pay for the stadiums down there in LA at anything over a $150 million level; Carmen Policy says their research implies the opposite, but I have not seen what they've done. 2) Second, the NFL's Players Union plan is not fair to Oakland, or San Diego, or St. Louis, the host cities for the Raiders, Chargers, and Rams. They're being asked to jump through hoops, only to learn that the playing field is stacked against them by the very NFL they're negotiating with. That's not a "good faith" effort. California Governor Jerry Brown should stop ignoring this issue and get involved - his cities are involved in a game they can't win unless they spend money. I have created a plan that calls for no public money at all and the Raiders have not responded as they said they would, yet keep asking Oakland to put in public money. That is wrong. 3) Third, the NFL has made it clear that it, and not the Raiders, Chargers, and Rams, is running this matter o putting a team in LA. Under the NFL's grand plan, each team asks its city to jump through financial hoops to retain their teams - then the NFL raises the hoops higher and higher. Meanwhile, it does everything it can to make a stadium in LA feasible and thereby increase the chance the Raiders, Chargers, and Rams, will leave their cities. All of this is wrong. The NFL must be made to work in good faith with Oakland and San Diego and St. Louis - offer the same players union financing as for the LA situation, or don't offer it at all.

NFL Says Oakland Not Invited To Give Stadium Presentation #Raiders

Eric Grubman, NFL Executive Vice President for Business Affairs, has informed me via email that the City of Oakland and "East Bay Entities" have not been invited to give a stadium presentation at the October 6th NFL Fall Owners Meeting. His one word answer to my specific question was "no". Now, while this doesn't rule out conversations with the NFL Owners at some point in the future, which is true for San Diego and St. Louis, it does mean this is the third time Oakland has missed an NFL deadline to give materials that would indicate a true desire to retain the Raiders in Oakland and meet with the NFL Ownership. Oakland failed to give the NFL a meaningful set of plans before the Spring Owners Meeting in San Francisco, leading NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to say "We haven't got anything from Oakland." Then Oakland's plan formed by Floyd Kephart and New City Development LLC was called "not viable" in response to my question at the Special NFL Owners Meeting in Schaumberg, Illinois. Now, this is the third time. It makes Oakland look like it doesn't want to retain the Raiders. And because of the inaction, it renders any thought of litigation against the NFL as hopeless, because Oakland's not taken any action itself to work to build a stadium to retain the team in Oakland. That is not the case with San Diego and St. Louis, which have met every NFL deadline and given "viable" plans. Oakland will have to rest its fate on how San Diego does in its "side" talks with the NFL.

Warriors New SF Arena Video Shown At Dreamforce #DF15

The Golden State Warriors unveiled the newest video of their planned new arena at Mission Bay at Dreamforce 2015 at Moscone Center today. While I wish the Warriors would stay in Oakland, I completely understand their efforts as much as I root for Oakland. The stadium, if built, would be a great addition to the event space offerings in San Francisco. The interior bowl features a screen that looks like it may be almost as large as the one in Cowboys Stadium, but I need to check that. Stay tuned.

Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO, has announced that his staff is working on a "dislike" button. This is a terrible idea because it will cause more female suicides. Suicides among women have increased over that for men since the advent of social media. There are reports after reports of women and girls who have tried to end their lives and have because of social media interaction. That has been in the form of cyber bullying but now a Facebook dislike button will just provide another tool for emotional harm. I say don't do it. Or leave a provision where a user can turn it off. There has been enough emotional damage done to women and girls. Time to stop it.

Matt Damon tells Effie Brown about diversity and sticks his foot in his mouth. This is part two of my video on this subject. On "Project Greenlight" Damon basically told Effie Brown that diversity behind the camera didn't matter. Brown was trying to say that a room full of white male producers should be aware of bring in black directors who would be more sensitive to how to do a movie that involves people of color and yet does not do any kind of scene that is racist. But Matt had to open his mouth and say "When we are talking about diversity you do it in the casting of the film in front of the camera not in the casting of the show behind the camera." That was horrible. But I am glad Matt Ade a stupid comment like that because it brought the issue of Hollywood's lack of diversity into the spotlight like never before.

Matt Damon tells Effie Brown about diversity and sticks his foot in his mouth. On "Project Greenlight" Damon basically told Effie Brown that diversity behind the camera didn't matter. Brown was trying to say that a room full of white male producers should be aware of bring in black directors who would be more sensitive to how to do a movie that involves people of color and yet does not do any kind of scene that is racist. But Matt had to open his mouth and say "When we are talking about diversity you do it in the casting of the film in front of the camera not in the casting of the show behind the camera." That was horrible. But I am glad Matt Ade a stupid comment like that because it brought the issue of Hollywood's lack of diversity into the spotlight like never before.

Marcus Mariota Highlights Marcus Mariota had an RG3 like day and set a rookie record for touchdown passes in a first half as the Tennessee Titans best the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 42 to 14. This is the latest in a rash of racist and classist acts in Oakland and the San Francisco Bay Area. This from the Facebook posting by a witness: In Oakland less than four hours and I just saw a young man violently assaulted by an armed security guard at Whole Foods - slammed repeatedly against concrete pillars, put in a chokehold, restrained, and suffocated until he was thrown face down on the pavement unconscious. The guard locked him out of the store despite the fact he was immobile. Not a single employee called the paramedics. He was trying to buy groceries with his EBT card and ended up in a stretcher. We spent an hour giving my written statement to the police, who were professional and polite. Does anyone know with whom and how we can share this story most justly and effectively? I'm sorry for more graphic images of violence against black citizens, but I was here and spoke to the victim (to keep him conscious), perpetrator, several bystanders, and cops. Armed private guards cannot be tolerated in our grocery stores and communities when this is what they do to paying customers. Whole Foods needs to be held accountable - security is NOT selective, it is collective.
