Oakland Raiders Can Get $500 Million Naming Rights In Las Vegas For NFL Stadium Says Source
Oakland Raiders Can Get $500 Million Naming Rights In Las Vegas For NFL Stadium Says Source While I remain skeptical, a source who is in the sports marketing business and recently talked with the Las Vegas Golden Knights, thinks its possible the Oakland Raiders can land a $500 million naming rights agreement for their new NFL Stadium in Sin City. It's a guess on his part, but given his background, it's an educated guess. I think the ballpark is $250 million, not $500 million. But I felt this news needed to be reported, given who told me this. Stay tuned.

Annie Campbell Washington Story Of Leaving Oakland City Council Because Of Desley Brooks Not True
Annie Campbell Washington Story Of Leaving Oakland City Council Because Of Desley Brooks Not True Oakland Councilmember Annie Campbell Washington fashioned a story where she was leaving the Oakland City Council because of the toxic, corrupt environment hallmarked by Oakland Councilmember Desley Brooks. This was the claim made two Thursday's ago. But it was revealed to me and the Goldman School article reflects that Councilmember Campbell Washington took the job of Executive Director of the Master of Public Policy Program at the UC Berkeley policy school and was named on January 28th, 2018. The question is why didn't Annie reveal this to anyone and to the media? Did she and Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf cook up this alternative story just to form a campaign against Brooks? It sure looks that way. This is horrible to say the least. It must be explained.

Will Oakland Raiders Play In San Diego Or Coliseum Before Las Vegas Stadium?
Will Oakland Raiders Play In San Diego Or Coliseum Before Las Vegas Stadium? Atlanta GA Cyber-link to Oakland, CA - The Friday April 20th morning meeting of the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Joint Powers Authority (Coliseum JPA), consisted of an impatient group of people minus Oakland District Three Councilmember Lynette Gibson McElhaney. That's too bad, because the Downtown-West Oakland-Adams Point rep who's showed up for what I'm told is about less than half of all of the Coliseum JPA meetings this 2017-2018 season, missed a doozy of a session: one that may have determined Oakland's future course in sports history. The Oakland Raiders, and more specifically Mark Davis giving direction to team president Marc Badain, have still not told the Coliseum JPA if they are going to take the lease extension deal offered to them in February: one that winds up doubling the rent for 2020 to $6 million. Of the JPA Board Members i've contacted, there were some who wanted to lower the rent ask to the Raiders, and others who objected, and none who wanted to be named for this news post. The outcome? The Raiders have less time to respond to the lease offer than before: June 30th is the date. I think that's a good thing. The Oakland Raiders have been jacking around the Coliseum JPA almost since they came back to Oakland. Al Davis blasted the deal on national TV in 1997. Then the Raiders went lawsuit happy and tried to win damage money against Oakland in court because they were cartoon-level lines-coming-out-of-their heads pissed off over the bad PSL sales two years later. Then came a nice run to Super Bowl 39, and a quite period of seeming bliss from 2002 to 2007. Then in 2008, the Raiders were unhappy again, and talking about moving back to LA, having rejected San Francisco 49ers Head Coach Jed York's offer to share his Levi's Stadium because, as Jed told me, "Mark didn't like the color of the seats (red)". That started a near un-broken string of whining on the part of the Silver and Black, with vacations from the rancor in 2009-2010, only to resume in 2011, and continue with San Antonio, Carson, and eventually Las Vegas as relocation targets. And, with the Raiders holding what https://ift.tt/2q7r4Bx ESPN called "secret meetings" for three years from 2014 to 2016, before getting their stadium deal approved by the Nevada Legislature October 16, 2016. So, almost since they got back to Oakland, the Raiders have either bad mouthed the deal, threatened to move, and held meetings behind the collective back of the Coliseum JPA, all the while asking for as low rent as possible, and even allegedly withholding parking money the JPA was supposed to receive. Ugh. So, it's not hard to understand why the Friday morning meeting of the Coliseum JPA consisted of some folks who'd had enough of being treated like the Oakland Raiders occasional side piece. That feeling increased when the news the Raiders were, as it was put, "snooping around" San Diego was let out at the meeting. Yep, the Oakland Raiders have been trying to be the temporary San Diego Raiders until the Las Vegas Money Pit, uh, I mean stadium, is read... Whenever it's ready. To date, the Raiders have no announced a deal in San Diego. Considering a number of factors, it's no wonder: the Chargers rent was $3.3 million, which is about what the Raiders are set to pay the Coliseum JPA this year. Then there' travel costs and housing costs, and luxury suite sales, and basically all of the considerations they are facing in Las Vegas, save the new stadium planning, and the Raiders are in a costly and unnecessary spot in San Diego; staying in Oakland makes more sense, but Mark Davis seems bent on making the JPA go back to its customary position of nice guy finishing last and getting cheated on by his wife. "This is a divorce" was the view constantly given to me by a number of Coliseum JPA Members, and so they feel, to a person, that the Raiders owe them. They're not a happy group, the Coliseum JPA. I have to admit, the Oakland City Council and the Alameda County Board of Supervisors would have to be high on weed not to share their view. But considering the meeting was held on 4-20 and one of their members was absent once again, maybe many of them are. Meanwhile, between now and June 30th, the Raiders find themselves on the clock, and I'm not referring to the NFL Draft. Stay tuned.

Joseph Tanios Get Nayeli Maxson As Challenger For Oakland City Council District 4 Seat Oakland Public Works employee veteran Joseph Tanios has drawn a challenger for the Oakland City Council District 4 Seat that the incumbent Annie Campbell Washington wants to vacate in January: Nayeli Maxson. Ms. Maxson is the Executive Director for the Alliance for Community Development, but two years ago, she was policy analyst for Councilmember Washington. So, we have the man who knows where Oakland's bodies are buried versus the challenger who's running to be a body. Interesting.

Mayor Schaaf Backs Loren Taylor For Oakland City Council District 6 Over Natasha Middleton
Mayor Schaaf Backs Loren Taylor For Oakland City Council District 6 Over Natasha Middleton Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf just sent out a fundraising support letter for Loren Taylor, Oakland businessman and new candidate for the Oakland City Council District Six Seat currently held by Desley Brooks. Now, that may not seem like a big deal or unusual until you consider that when Natasha Middleton filed her papers to run for the same seat, the one fact that stood out on her Emerge Calfornia resume was this: “She recently worked for City of Oakland Councilmember Libby Schaaf as a Policy Analyst and Constituent Liaison.” Can you say “wow?” So it begs the question why Mayor Schaaf would not back someone who has it on her resume that she worked for her? It's also worth noting that Ms. Middleton does not mention Mayor Schaaf anywhere on her campaign website. And it gets better: current Oakland City Councilmember Annie Campbell Washington has endorsed Middleton, but also values Loren Taylor. Meanwhile, Mayor Schaaf's ill-advised decision to call Councilmember Brooks “Donald Trump of Oakland” may wind up having the same impact on Brooks re-election run as it is having on Schaaf's. If that's the case, then Taylor, Middleton, and Mya Whitaker will wind up taking a back seat to Brooks in name recognition, thanks to Libby.

Oakland Raiders, Coliseum JPA Play Game Of Chicken In Stadium Lease Extension Talks
Oakland Raiders, Coliseum JPA Play Game Of Chicken In Stadium Lease Extension Talks The game of chicken goes something like this: “two drivers drive towards each other on a collision course: one must swerve, or both may die in a crash, but if one driver swerves and the other does not, the one who swerved will be called a "chicken", meaning that person's a coward.” In the case of the Oakland Raiders, and the Oakland Coliseum Joint Powers Authority, they are the two drivers headed toward each other. The “ collision course” is the sizable rent increase that's at the center of the Coliseum JPA proposal. The Raiders, by taking a month to say whether or not they will accept the Coliseum JPA lease extension, are playing with the idea that the stadium owner will eventually cave in and give the NFL team a lower rent. But my sources say that's not happening. “The deal is the deal,” as I was told, today. I was also informed that the Raiders are still interested in staying in Oakland and playing at the Coliseum until their new money-pit of a sports complex is ready to be used in Las Vegas. So, with that in mind, Marc Badain wants the JPA to give an alternative proposal, but he's not going to get one. The Coliseum JPA, on the other hand as of now, left the door open for the Raiders to come up with an “innovative and creative” counter-offer – so far, the Raiders have done nothing. At some point, the two sides have to decide what to do. The Coliseum JPA does not want to give in to the Oakland Raiders because there's still very hard feelings over the way the Raiders manipluated them in going behind their collective back to do a stadium deal, first for Carson, then for Las Vegas. And then there's the million dollars in parking revenue not paid to the Coliseum JPA, and that issue's not been resolved either (to this date). The Raiders being, well, the Oakland Raiders, are trying to pay as little as possible to the Coliseum JPA, while sticking around the facility. The way I see it, the Raiders agreed to give Jon Gruden a 10-year, $100 million contract, and have floated the idea of a giant, guaranteed money deal for Khalil Mack. Why not give something to the Coliseum JPA, out the door to Las Vegas? Seems to be an OK request to me. The Oakland Raiders have until the end of June to work all of this out, unless the Coliseum JPA decides to move up the drop-dead-date at the April 20th meeting. That would be akin to moving the goal posts, but the Coliseum JPA's as mad at the Raiders as a mad hatter. The board is in no mood to mess around – if the Raiders leave after 2018, the Coliseum JPA believes they can weather the void of events for what would be the 2019 NFL Season. “They save over $1 million by the Raiders being gone,” a source said,”and while some jobs will be gone from the Raiders departure, that can be made up.” So, we now know the Raiders, at least for this week, are into staying in Oakland for as long as possible. My read is the team isn't rich enough to fashion an affordable, alternative place to play in a short period of time. So, say goodbye to Sam Boyd Stadium as the new temporary home. Not happening. (It's really not suited for NFL Foorball without a $50 million upgrade – at least). In my view, here's what the Raiders should do: take the million in parking money they owe, and use that to make an expanded West Side Club. The problem with the club now is not enough places to buy food to complement the bar space. Spend the million to build a kind of mini-food-court and also push that wall out to the patio area in the process, bringing that outdoor space, indoors. Then the Raiders could argue they spent money to help make money for the Coliseum JPA and its tenants, then ask for a million reduction in the rent offer, and be good to go. There, problem solved. But then the Raiders never listen to me; would be good for them to change. Given my call with the stadium plan Davis asked for, my year-old-plus assertion that the Clark County hotel stadium tax was too small, and my report that Las Vegas has a visitor rate problem, I'm three-for-three – the prospects of me making it four-for-four look pretty good. Dan Schwartz Nevada Gov Candidate Will Cut NFL Stadium Money To Oakland Raiders For Las Vegas
Dan Schwartz Nevada Gov Candidate Will Cut NFL Stadium Money To Oakland Raiders For Las Vegas I met and interviewed Dan Schwartz, the current Nevada Treasurer, on Oscar Sunday, March 24th near his home in Las Vegas. This is the first video interview anyone has ever done of Mr. Schwartz on the Oakland Raiders Las Vegas UNLV NFL Stadium issue. I posted this new version for two reasons: first, I had not broke-out the Raiders-specific part to that date, and second, I was waiting for the right moment to add to my video collection. That time came when local Las Vegas media outlets elected to basically re-report what I put out there week's ago - and not give me credit by using my video in their coverage. This video is an excerpt from our full over-half-hour conversation, not just about the Raiders Stadium and the tax and bond problem, but the under-funded schools in Clark County, and the Faraday Future Auto Factory case that proved to be embarrassing to Nevada's outgoing Governor Brian Sandoval.
